 POSTURE YOGA

    This class will focus on strengthening the core muscles while opening and stretching the hips.This allows for proper posture and a healthy spine. Poses are held to build endurance; breath work will release tension so that flexibility of the spine and hips can be achieved. This class is a must for anyone that spends hours sitting on a desk or driving long hours a day.

First time yogis are welcomed!

$5 first class, $10 drop in fee, $95 10 class card.

1pm Contact Improv Dance Workshops
 

This monthly, four-part, fundamentals workshop series in Contact Improvisation Dance builds our skills in physical strength, body awareness, sensitivity and flexibility, opens our communicative and creative expression with dance partners, and helps us to access a sense of mindful presence.

 

All skill levels, shapes, sizes and physical abilities are welcome – no prior dance experience necessary.

These workshops, designed as a series, may also be taken individually:

 

Sept.13th Just Here, Just Now – presence at the point

Oct. 11th We Know it in Our Bones - weight sharing

Nov. 8th The Master Key - listening

Dec. 13th Ensemble Dance – real time composition

 

Location:

Workshops will be held on Saturdays from 1- 5pm at The Mind, Body and Spirit Academe 1785 West Stadium in Ann Arbor.

 

Fees:

Individual Class - sliding scale $35-$45

Series discount - all four classes, paid in advance $120 - $145

Instructor:

Stefanie Cohen, a solo and collaborative dance/movement artist, teaches and performs throughout the United States, on her own and with the Chicago-based performance collective, LAVA. She facilitates classes in Authentic Movement, Improvisational Dance, performance skills, and creative process, and produced GLACIER (Great Lakes Area Contact Improvisation Enthusiasts' Retreat), annually, since co-founding it in 2001.

7pm Salsa Saturday

7-8 pm Level 1 Salsa Lessons: For students new to salsa who want to learn a good foundation. We will cover the basics of Salsa Dancing so that you can learn at your own pace and move on to our next level class.

8-9pm Level 3 Salsa Lessons: Students must know the moves covered in Level 2 Salsa. We warm up and learn a new partner work pattern each week. This is a drop- in class; no registration is necessary.
